Who I am
My name is Effie Emmanouilidou and I am a professional English to Greek translator.
A bit more about me . . .
I have a B.A. in English Studies (1995-1999) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a diploma from the European Educational Group for Translation and Interpretation (1999-2001).
Committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD), I regularly attend online courses, webinars and conferences in the translation field. Currently I am taking part in the Introductory Human Physiology course, from Duke University on Coursera.
You can see a list of my CPD here.
I began my career working as an in-house translator for two agencies (Intertranslations and Orco). Since 2002, I have been working as a freelance translator. Used to working with many types of texts, my favored field of study is the technical and medical field. Enjoying in-depth research, I also enjoy the fact that my role in translating allows me to continually learn about new technologies and developments in these fields.
A few personal facts:
Born and raised in Greece by a Greek father and a Puerto-Rican/New Yorker mother, I have been involved in translating since 2001. Raised bilingual and with a native knowledge of both languages, I am able to understand the nuances of English that a non-native speaker would possibly struggle with, being able to translate accurately into Greek.
I am an experienced user of memoQ 2015, SDL Trados Studio 2015 and SDL Trados 2007. I can also work with Smartling (CAT Tool Certification, May 2017 ) and Memsource if required.
Effie is one of the best Greek translators I have ever worked with. She is thorough, professional, reliable and always punctual. She delivers quality work, and it’s always a pleasure working with her.Dai Ho Wortman // Quality Assurance Localization Consultant at DJO Global
